I always thought giant otters were heavier than that? I thought they could reach more like 100 lbs?
Either way, I don't think a giant river otter should be considered a slouch at all at parity. I would expect one to beat a dhole if it had a 10 kg weight advantage, and wouldn't be easy without a weight advantage, which is no disrespect to the dhole. Giant otters are pretty serious animals. If I'm not mistaken they've killed caiman?

Even at equal weights. Strength, speed, agility, grappling ability and additional weaponary favor the cougar.

When a pack brings down a moose, then itīs not a big difference to an older male bringing down a moose without the pack. I saw a video of a single wolf easily bringing down a healthy rather big elk in YNP. An elk is not a moose, but seeing how easily the wolf brings the elk down, itīs not so hard to believe that he could prevail against a moose cow.

Its probably best you keep claims of single wolves killing adult moose in perspective. Wolverines have killed adult moose too, but there were clear reasons behind that too.

And yet, cougars don't kill adult moose, let alone musk ox or bison. Wolves have singlehandedly killed all of the above. I guess the cougar's superiority over wolves, at parity or otherwise, is an illusion.
Obviously breaking it down like this-

Quote:
Strength, speed, agility, grappling ability and additional weaponary favor the cougar.

Is an inadequate and flawed analysis, as wolves actually prove themselves superior by taking larger more dangerous prey. The above attributes aren't the be all and end all, there's more to it and the proof is in the pudding.

Here is the thing yeltsinghost. Sure the pastor is a retard for doing this, and it will anger many people around the world just like the mohamed cartoons did. But really, what pisses people of more? Living under occupation and martial law (Iraq/Afganistan) having their people tortured and blown to bitts, or some inbreed burning your holy book. The media is hyping this cuz now they can blame the killing and opposition of US/coalition troops on somebody imo.

Lars Vilks a swedish inbreed like this pastor made gay pictures of mohamed to piss people of. the result? see for yourself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRQIkUO4ods
Thats about how extreem it got lol.

yes it does sound more resonable that the dhole kills the otter but i don't think the otter will be brought down easy and it could perhaps detour the dhole by not trying to run and standing it's ground

Well its a Mustelide regardless of its aquatic lifestyle, which would be very hard for the dhole to kill.

Nice wolf... what can I say. They behave according to their instincts. Wolves have been killed by humans for centuries, of course they are shy. Still an adult male from the northern hemisphere will rip a great pyrenee or a kangal without a spiked collar open easily....

There was a time when America's Great Plains teemed with charismatic megafauna; that time will come again.
