Canada won 14 gold medals: the most any host nation has won in the Winter Olympics.

I'm pleased for the host country to win their own games - but lets keep Canadas Olympic performanes in perspective - at Beijing they finished 19th, behind such powers as Ethiopia, Belarus, Kenya, & Jamaica. With their wealth and population, their performance is quite poor. Australia with a similar economic status, but notably smaller population finished 6th at Beijing!

Yeah it's a great and pleasing thing to see, for both countries. They are my favorites, hats down for Canada, but Australia is the sports nation no 1.

That's because Canada spends much more $$ into winter sports. That's no surprise here. Sports such as hockey, snowboarding, skiing are much more popular than swimming, or gymnastics for example.
And I can ask you the same question, how did Australia fare at the winter olympics? 13th place.

13th in a smaller and less significant competition is better than 19th in a competition that really matters(summer olympics) And 2 gold medals for a country with a tiny population and no snow is a pretty good effort. I mean, there are probably countries in Africa with more snow than Australia.
Well, I did enjoy the Winter Olympics, at least, much more than the others around me, but it still doesn't mean anything when compared to the world significance of the Summer olympics.
A fight is not won by one punch or kick. Either learn to endure or hire a bodyguard. Forget about winning and losing; forget about pride and pain. Let your opponent graze your skin and you smash into his flesh; let him smash into your flesh and you fracture his bones; let him fracture your bones and you take his life.

Which is an excellent result considering some of the points Shakemaker makes.
